PEN: How did you come up with the idea for the book?JONATHAN: My wife and I both grew up on Disney movies and loved the Frozen franchise.

We also loved the books by Stephen King and Hans Christian Anderson, so the idea was born.

PENN: Did you have a specific target audience in mind?

J: I didn’t have a target audience, but I wanted the characters to be relatable to those readers, and to people who grew up with those books.

PENTAGON: Are there any characters that you feel will resonate with younger readers?

J.P.: I was particularly drawn to a character named Frost who was a little older than most characters in the book.

His father is a frost mage and his sister is a fairy.

They are both young, beautiful, and intelligent.

I wanted to tell this story about their journey of survival, and I think it’s going to resonate with a broader audience than just young kids.PENN: Where do you see the future of the Frozen series going?

J.: I know there are so many great stories in this franchise, and hopefully we’ll be able to tell a little bit more.
