Google’s ad sales company will be worth $2.8 billion this year and will break even for the first time in years, according to an estimate from research firm Reno.
Google AdWords, which is a division of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is now profitable.
Google is not disclosing the amount of money Google made last year but its parent company, Alphabet, reported last month that its revenues grew 9% to $4.7 billion.
Revenue at Google grew 8.2% to more than $2 trillion last year.
But the company has struggled to keep pace with competition, including from Facebook and Twitter, which dominate the social network market and which have recently been accused of favoring their own brands over those of competitors.
Alphabet said last month it was expanding its ad buying operations by about 3 million people, or 2.5% of the company’s global workforce.
