A tribal elder says President Donald Trump is planning to take over the tribes that voted for Trump.
Robert W. White, president of the Tribes of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, told the Associated Press he’s hearing about plans for an American Indian “pig farm” in the Great Sioux reservation.
White said the Trump administration is seeking to create a tribal police force to “take away tribal authority.”
White said tribal leaders have not been told how they are to respond.
The tribe’s Republican Chairman Mike Evers said in a statement Monday that he’s “deeply concerned” about Trump’s plans.
Trump was elected in November to serve a second four-year term as president.
